Color: medium brown with a slight ruby tint.
Smell: very "dessert" nose - lots of rich raisiny sweetness. Toffee, rum raisin ice cream, and toasted walnuts for me. There's also a puff of smoke in the background. Delicious-smelling.
Taste: really good, but a slight let-down from the amazing nose. There's a little more alcohol heat than expected on entry, and the sherried sweetness takes a backseat to toasted grains through the mid-palate. That said, the dessert sweets come back into play on a long, lingering finish, with that same kiss of smoke from the nose. It's delicious, but slightly thinner than expected with the massively lush nose.
Overall: big fan of this, solid "A-," and recommended.
