Color: light gold

Smell: bit-time oak influence and alcohol heat ride above sweet malty notes, vanilla, lemon zest, and honey. Really crisp, and very nice. Unlike some sherried whiskies, this doesn't bring in a huge dose of nuts or sweetness - it's more grainy, though there's a hint of dark chocolate.

Taste: crisp and citrusy, with much more sweetness than the nose let on. The bourbon cask adds a hint of vanilla to a backbone of malt, and there's also a little herbaceousness. Despite the proof, it's very smooth in the mouth, and there's something else here - I keep coming back to chocolate or mocha.

Overall: I'm a big fan of this. It's richer and more complex than any other bourbon-finished Scotch I've encountered. A- for me, but use your discretion when it comes to big-time wallet hits!
