Color: light/medium golden brown
Smell: nice. Pretty big on the nose, but mellow. Lots of fresh, corn-forward sweetness - reminds me a lot of Dickel in that sense. There's a bit of dustiness or earthiness here as well, but it's in the background. Basically, it smells like a Tennessee whiskey in a good way - a mellow blend of honey and popcorn.
Taste: fresh corn sweetness upfront with a lot of honey as well. The transition brings in some balanced oak influence - this woodiness offsets and complements the sweetness nicely. I wouldn't call the end result deeply complex, but it's mellow and well-balanced. Finish is medium, with dusty corn sweetness as the main note.
Overall: solid B/B+, and recommended. Definitely a smooth customer (particularly considering its proof), for me it sits right above Dickel 12 but below Dickel Barrel Select and private barrel selections in terms of its relative merits and taste profile. Priced fairly as well.
